One of the most infamous Spider-Man storylines of all time is "One More Day," which saw Peter Parker and Mary-Jane Watson make a deal with the literal devil to save Aunt May. But while there were immediate changes to the world as a result, it could directly be the cause of an enemy who's been targeting Peter recently.

Spider-Man's deal with the devil from the "One More Day" might be the key to figuring out the full secrets of Kindred.

After he exposed his identity to the world as a whole during the events of Civil War, Peter Parker and his loved ones found themselves increasingly targeted by his many enemies. Eventually, a gunman for Wilson Fisk was able to track down the Parkers and open fire -- missing Peter but mortally wounding his Aunt May. With no other options available to him, Peter and Mary-Jane ultimately make a deal with Mephisto in "One More Day," with the devilish figure agreeing to restore May to life at the cost of altering the timeline and removing Peter and Mary'-Jane's wedding. An additional change made by Mary-Jane allowed the world to also forget Peter's identity. All of these changes led to surprising alterations to the timeline -- such as the resurrection of Harry Osborn, who now never died while the Green Goblin.

But these choices might finally be coming back to haunt Peter. Harry Osborn has been revealed to be the mysterious Kindred, obsessed with revenge against Spider-Man for his past crimes and with some sort of demonic power-set. Having the power-set be tied to Harry and his resurrection at the hands of Mephisto makes a certain kind of sense. It would also explain why figures like Doctor Strange are having trouble contending with a Kindred-possessed Silk, who hints that his power and connection to Peter is also tied to the powers of hell. Doctor Strange also gets another clue towards the demon that might be behind Kindred and his actions. Using the Hand of Vishanti, Doctor Strange can attempt to send Spider-Man across the Astral Plane to confront Kindred head on.

But while the Hand of Vishanti has worked in the past, Doctor Strange isn't able to utilize it with Spider-Man again. Instead, the connection creates an aura of red light and spikes of light, all of which confuse Doctor Strange. Admitting the Hand won't work on him now, Doctor Strange muses that perhaps Peter made some kind of arrangement with an unknown force. But before Spider-Man can convince Doctor Strange to help him chase down Kindred head-on anyway, the Sorceror Supreme reveals he has a different theory -- and will investigate on his own, suggesting he could find out the full details of "One More Day."

Spider-Man's deal with Mephisto has long been hanging over his head, even with more and more people in his life regaining their knowledge of his identity. But could Kindred be the price finally coming due? Doctor Strange specifically mentioning an "arrangement" suggests that Spider-Man's deal with the devil might become a problem again, and it might have even doomed all of his fellow Spider-Heroes.
