Spider-Man, like many superheroes, has a lot going for him with one of the most important things being that iconic costume of his. In fact, we'd argue that the first that comes to anyone's mind when they hear his name is an image of that costume. However, like with any hero of his caliber with that great costume comes a lot of different versions of the costume.

Hopefully, you're not thinking all those versions are great because there are a lot of bad costumes as well as a whole bundle of ridiculous costumes. In Spider-Man's case throughout his different appearances, there are a lot of oddly specific costumes he's donned which is what we'll be looking at with this list.

10 Electro Proof Spidey

Electro Proof Spidey

This costume is among one of the most ridiculous in the comics by far. Made specifically by Peter Parker to defeat Electro in Amazing Spider-Man #425 it has surprisingly gained popularity. This outfit has continuously made appearances in various Spider-Man games and we're sure it's due to the sheer stupidity in the costume's appearance.

This costume was definitely made for a very specific purpose but it was really just made to sell toys. Hopefully, they just keep making it show up in games as a gag and it never shows up in a comic again.

9 Firefighter Spidey

Firefighter Spidey

Oh, you thought we'd be sticking strictly to the comics for costumes here? Nope! Every piece of official Spider-Man merch is fair game here and this goofy firefighter Spider-Man is absolutely no exception. This costume was toy exclusive and as specific as it gets. Imagine Spidey getting an alert that there's a nearby fire he has to come help stop and seeing him run to get his firefighter outfit before showing up.

We really like to pretend the firefighter hat in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a reference to this.

8 Police Officer Spidey

Police Officer Spidey

This one is very much in the oddly specific category but man it makes zero sense whatsoever. What's the point in being a superhero like Spider-Man and then having to turn around and put on a police officer outfit before having to go stop a crime. We know it's a kid's toy but geez give the young ones some credit and at least give them a Spidey toy to play with that makes sense.

Anyways much like the last entry but with a different piece of media, we really hope Spider-Cop is a reference to this.

7 Jungle Web Spidey

Jungle Web Spidey

For those days when Spider-Man is just trapped in a jungle and really needs a jungle web. Can someone let us know when this actually would be useful? Maybe during a fight with Lizard or Rhino that leads the web-slinger into the jungle. How exactly would Spider-Man know he's going to need his jungle mech for the day?

The fact that we've got so many questions about the real use of this outfit really is a testament to just how oddly specific this outfit is.

6 Ninja Spidey

Ninja Spidey

If you haven't noticed yet, most of our friendly neighborhood hero's most oddly specific outfits are coming from the toy world. It really looks like they just have been throwing Peter into any outfit possible from every walk of life there is.

We're guessing Spidey has a date with Daredevil to go on a fight with the hand. Why else would the guy need a ninja outfit? In fact, he still wouldn't need a ninja outfit. What reason on earth is there for the guy to be wearing a ninja outfit!?

5 Scuba Spidey

Scuba Spidey

On those days when Spider-Man is chasing after The Lizard in a lake or something and he needs some extra speed and more air under the sea. All jokes aside can you imagine seeing the guy wearing this in any of the comics? The extra blue armor type crap on him makes it even worse.

Seriously where do these guys come up with these costume ideas? The only answer that makes sense is that the creators have a 200 sided dice with a bunch of random stuff listed on them.

4 Anti-Vampire Spidey

Anti-Vampire Spidey

Easily one of the most oddly specific Spider-Man costumes of all time. The only reason we can imagine him needing this is to battle against Morbius the Living Vampire and even then what exactly does this outfit do against vampires to make it so "anti-vampire"?

We've been looking this weird armor up and down forever and just can't make out what any of it is supposed to be. The accessories make no sense, the name makes no sense, the armor makes no sense, and the outfit is so specific it should have never been made.

3 Space Spidey

Space Spidey

Of course, if we've got a specific costume for going underwater we're going to need an equivalent version for space exploration and this space suit for Spider-Man really gets the job done. This outfit at least makes a bit of sense even though it's ridiculous.

You can't just go up into space with nothing but tights on right? Then cut the man some slack and let him wear his space outfit. Someone get him some space gloves though because we're definitely sure that those normal Spidey gloves won't help him in the cold of space.

2 Beach Spidey

Beach Spidey

Remember this outfit from the iconic battle between Spider-Man and Sandman on the beach in that one amazing issue of the classic Spider-Man comic? Yeah, the one where he had to ditch the classic tights and add on shorts, a sleeveless tight shirt with his full name for the chest logo, and a cool backward hat! Yeah, the issue where it was completely necessary to wear all this for Spider-Man to be able to step foot on the beach.

Yeah, we don't remember it either. Why is this a thing?

1 Karate Spidey

Karate Spidey

This is a true step up from the ninja outfit Spider-Man was featured in earlier on in the list. What's more badass than a ninja? A kung fu master! What's more badass than both of those? Spider-Man dressed up in a random kung fu outfit for some weirdly specific reason.

We actually can't think up any reason he'd be wearing this outfit at all. Hopefully, the legacy of oddly specific Spider-Man outfits continues and kids get more toys like these but until then at least we have these.
