Actor Tom Holland's run as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not seem very long in comparison to some of his co-stars and their respective superheroes, but Holland seems to be ready to step down from the role and pursue other projects, like playing James Bond.

In an interview with GQ, Holland discussed moving on from playing Spider-Man. While he have no indication of what his plans for the future are, Spider-Man: No Way Home co-star Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned, revealed, "He talks about being James Bond a lot... A lot a lot."

The James Bond franchise just concluded Daniel Craig's run as 007 with the recently released No Time to Die. According to producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the search for the next Bond actor will not begin until 2022.

Not including the upcoming Spider-Man film, Holland has thus far appeared in a total of five films set within the MCU, starting with Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and most recently in Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. He made a brief appearance in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame as one of the many superheroes that returned after the Hulk snapped half the universe back into existence.

Director Jon Watts previously teased the scale of Spider-Man: No Way Home. He stated, "We're definitely trying to be ambitious," before calling the film, "Spider-Man: Endgame," comparing it to the massive 2019 ensemble film that brought an end to the Infinity Saga.

The recently released trailer for No Way Home confirmed that, aside from Alfred Molina's return as Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2, the film will see Willem Dafoe reprise his role as Green Goblin and Thomas Haden Church return as Sandman from director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. In addition, Jamie Foxx will return as a variant of Electro, while Rhys Ifans returns as the Lizard, both from the Amazing Spider-Man films.

Theories that arose from early on during the film's production have only intensified thanks to the release of the trailer. It is widely believed that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will also return as their respective versions of Spider-Man, though Garfield has consistently denied his involvement. Holland's Spidey may not be facing all of these supervillains alone, however, since a version of the teaser featuring a major battle between Spider-Man, Sandman, Electro and Lizard sees the Lizard receiving an invisible hit mid-air, suggesting a character has been edited out, possibly to keep certain appearances a surprise.
