A new Spider-Man: No Way Home poster puts the spotlight on Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker.
A tweet from the official No Way Home Twitter promoting the movie's home media release featured a poster from artist BossLogic that shows Maguire's Spider-Man tangling with the film's numerous villains, with the most prominent being Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Flint Marko/Sandman (Thomas Haden Church). The poster, which you can see below, was pulled down shortly after posting and has not bee released again as of this article's latest update.
Set after the events of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, No Way Home sees Peter Parker (Tom Holland) asking Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help hiding his identity after it was exposed by Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). The spell Doctor Strange uses goes wrong, resulting in various versions of characters who know Peter is Spider-Man to pour in from across the multiverse. Maguire and the villains from his tenure as Spider-Man are among those who appear.
Maguire debuted as Peter in 2002's Spider-Man, which was directed by Sam Raimi. The movie, which saw Spider-Man taking on Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), proved a massive success, earning more than $825 million against a budget of around $140 million. The sequel, 2004's Spider-Man 2, proved almost as successful, earning $789 million against a budget of around $200 million. Both films were well-received critically and are generally considered two of the finest superhero movies ever.
Maguire's initial tenure as Peter came to an end following the release of 2007's Spider-Man 3. Overall, the movie was financially successful and brought in more than $894 million against a then-record-setting budget of between $258 and $350 million. However, the movie was not well-received critically and currently holds a 63 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest among the three Raimi-helmed movies. Plans for Spider-Man 4 were scrapped, and Sony opted to reboot the franchise with Andrew Garfield in the title role.
No Way Home, which is the third Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movie, proved a massive success for Sony and Marvel Studios at the box office and with critics. The two companies are said to be actively working on Spider-Man's post-No Way Home future, though details about their plans are scarce at this time.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters and on Digital now. The film arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on April 12.
