WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home, in theaters now.

Marvel has revealed the official names for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marvel's main website now features pages for Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man, showing them as they appear in No Way Home. This language and the suits they're wearing in their pictures then indicate that these are the official designations for the versions of Spider-Man played by Magurie and Garfield, respectively.

Magurie first played Spider-Man in the hero's eponymous 2002 film. Directed by Sam Raimi, Spider-Man proved a massive success at the box office, earning more than $821 million. Spider-Man was also a success with fans and critics. A sequel, Spider-Man 2, released in 2004. While the movie performed slightly worse commercially, Spider-Man 2 is generally regarded as one of the best superhero films of all time. The third and final movie in that trilogy, Spider-Man 3, released in 2007. Although commercially successful, Spider-Man 3 performed poorly with audiences and critics. In the wake of that film, plans for a fourth Raimi Spider-Man movie were scrapped.

After the Raimi franchise ended, Sony rebooted the series in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man, which starred Garfield in the title role. Both The Amazing Spider-Man and its 2014 sequel performed respectably at the box office, but critics and audiences were much more mixed in their evaluations of the films. There were originally plans for a third Amazing Spider-Man and a spinoff movie centered on the Sinister Six. However, those never came to fruition.

In 2015, Holland was cast as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He made his first appearance in 2016's Captain America: Civil War and has, since then, appeared in two Avengers films and three solo movies. His most recent film, No Way Home, has proven a smash hit, earning the second-highest grossing opening in domestic box office history. No Way Home has also done well with critics. Currently, the movie's critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes is sitting at 94 percent, making it the second-highest reviewed MCU film.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now. At this time, it's not totally clear if Marvel and/or Sony have any plans going forward for Garfield and Maguire's versions of Spider-Man. However, Disney and Sony are actively working on Spider-Man content following No Way Home.
