Leaked art from Spider-Man: No Way Home hints at the world turning on the web-slinging hero.A fan account for the upcoming third Spider-Man film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universes carries a worrying message for the protagonist: "We believe Mysterio." The message appears emblazoned on two new pieces of art done in a simple illustrated style, the second of which is made to look like graffiti. They also feature stylized versions of Mysterio's helmet. Likely, they mirror art that will appear in the new movie, picking up on a thread that was teased earlier this year that proved the citizens of New York City won't all be on Spidey's side.RELATED: Doctor Strange 2, Spider-Man: No Way Home Writers Worked Together

Back in February, an account "run" by Flash Thompson that Sony used to promote Spider-Man: Far From Home and the characters' adventures abroad came back to life. It posted a number of polls and a newspaper clipping that featured Easter eggs and potential plot threads for the upcoming film. One, for instance, hinted at Ned Leeds becoming a villain, as his adult counterpart does in the comic when he dons the Hobgoblin mantle. There was also a tease about a WandaVision connection.

More interesting, however, was the idea of people joining #TeamMysterio. In the promotional material, there are reports that citizens are siding with Mysterio against Spider-Man after the post-credits scene from Far From Home revealed Peter Parker as the hero and framed him for murdering Quentin Beck. It also showed that Flash, formerly Spider-Man's biggest fan, had joined Team Mysterio, though that's less surprising given his hatred of Peter.

Little is known about the plot of the film, but this isn't the only connection it seems to have to the villain of the previous movie. Mysterio has popped up in several toy sets for the new movie, hinting that his presence will be felt in a big way -- or even that he may return. The film will involve, seemingly, the introduction of the multiverse to the MCU's films after Loki blew the doors open.

Far From Home memorably teased the multiverse with Beck's arrival, though his backstory was revealed to be a ruse. But with Doctor Strange appearing in the movie and Loki rumored to cameo, not to mention the return of Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus and Jaimie Foxx's Electro, perhaps a multiversal Mysterio will rear his head.

You can decide which team you're on when Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
