The trailer for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home did a lot of heavy lifting in just a short amount of time. So much so that fans are still uncovering new tidbits, including a possible appearance from Curt Connors/The Lizard. One shot in the trailer sees a well-dressed Peter Parker startled when a shadowy figure tries to attack him from behind, only to be blocked by a wall of magical energy. A fan took it upon themself to brighten up the footage, revealing what resembles a reptilian silhouette with something bright on its back -- perhaps a lab coat.RELATED: Spider-Man: No Way Home Can Fix the MCU's Biggest Spider-Sin

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Curt Connors/The Lizard debuted in 1963's The Amazing Spider-Man #6, making him one of Spidey's oldest foes. The character is an esteemed geneticist whose efforts to restore his missing arm result in him being transformed into an anthropomorphic lizard. While Dylan Baker played Connors in both Spider-Man 2 and 3, the first live-action incarnation of The Lizard proper was in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, where he was played by Rhys Ifans.

The Lizard's involvement in No Way Home has been rumored for some time thanks to an earlier report suggesting the film would finally realize Sony's dream of a live-action Sinister Six. "It's obvious that they are building to the Sinister Six in Spider-Man 3, which is Spider-Man: No Way Home," Collider's Jeff Sneider said in May. "So I heard that the 'No Way Home' wasn't in reference to Spider-Man but to the villains -- that the villains are coming out of all these different alternative dimensions. They don't have a way to get home."

"Sony has obviously copped to the fact that Doc Ock is in the movie, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx is Electro," he continued. "Those are the only two that we really know. I'm pretty sure that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin will be the main villain in this film. So that's three. I'd heard Sandman, Rhino and Lizard. Those were the other three that I heard. I don't know if any of those are confirmed. I don't know if Rhys Ifans or Paul Giamatti or Thomas Haden Church had been seen on set, I haven't really been paying attention to the paparazzi photos. But that was my understanding is that all six of those past Spider-Man villains because it doesn't really make sense to introduce new villains necessarily in this movie. But six Spider-Man villains from the past wind up in Peter Parker's universe and they are the ones who have no way of getting home."
