A new report suggests Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, long-rumored to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, is actually the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios film's main villain.

"I'm pretty sure that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin will be the main villain in this film," Jeff Sneider said on the latest Sneider Cut podcast. He also noted that he'd heard the film will be building toward a live-action version of the Sinister Six, featuring Green Goblin leading Doctor Octopus, Electro, The Sandman, The Rhino and The Lizard.

Rumors that Dafoe's Green Goblin would appear in No Way Home began to surface in December 2020, and two months later, the actor was reportedly spotted on the film's set. Dafoe originally played the role in 2002's Spider-Man, the first entry in the fan-favorite Sam Raimi trilogy.

Should Dafoe return in No Way Home, he'd be one of several familiar faces from past incarnations of the franchise to reappear, alongside Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon/Electro. It's also been rumored that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will reprise their respective Peter Parkers, though nothing's been confirmed on either front.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx as Electro. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
