A viral video being used to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home places the blame for Sandman and Electro's attacks on New York City on Peter Parker.

The video, which hails from The Daily Bugle's TikTok account, sees Betty Brant reporting on "wildly unseasonable weather" consisting of lightning-filled thunderstorms and messy sandstorms across the city. Betty then gets a message from J. Jonah Jameson, who tells her Spider-Man is to blame for the storms and that he's merely trying to make it "look" like supervillains are the real culprits.

Electro and Sandman are two of the five main villains fans can expect to see in No Way Home. The former is played by Jamie Foxx, reprising his role from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while the latter is played by Thomas Haden Church from Spider-Man 3.

Foxx's return was announced in October 2020, but after quickly deleting a social media post about how Electro wouldn't be blue this time around, Foxx remained silent on the role until the second trailer was released. Church, meanwhile, was said to be returning for No Way Home the following December and has yet to publicly comment on his reprisal, despite similarly appearing in the aforementioned trailer and numerous marketing materials since.

Other villains appearing in No Way Home include Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn/Green Goblin and Rhys Ifans' Dr. Curt Connors/Lizard. While earlier reports suggested the film would formally introduce the Sinister Six to the Marel Cinematic Universe, it now appears there'll only be five main antagonists, along with the possibility of a sixth in a post-credits stinger.

It's currently unclear what the future holds for Tom Holland's Spider-Man post-No Way Home. Producer Amy Pascal recently said a new trilogy of films was in the works from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, but a rep from Sony swiftly pumped the brakes and said nothing was set in stone just yet. Holland himself weighed in shortly after, saying, "Listen, all I'll say is we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about. I don't know what those things are or what they will transpire to mean. But it looks like it's an incredibly bright future ahead, and as I've said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me."

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
