The nominations for the 94th Academy Awards are rolling in and fans pushing to see Spider-Man: No Way Home represented may be disappointed.

As reported by THR, Marvel Studios' latest blockbuster starring Tom Holland as the Web-Head was only nominated in the category for Best Visual Effects, where it will be competing against films like No Time to Die, Free Guy and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Some enthusiasts will undoubtedly be dishearted that No Way Home isn't nominated for the prestigious Best Picture award but many will likely be pleased that Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic Dune cracked the nod. The revered adaption of Frank Herbert's seminal novel is going up against critical darlings such as The Power of the Dog, Belfast, CODA, King Richard, West Side Story and Licorice Pizza.

While Tom Holland may not be in the running for an Oscar just yet, his No Way Home co-star Andrew Garfield earned himself a Best Actor nomination for his musical performance in Netflix's Tick, Tick...Boom! Garfield will be competing against Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch who is nominated in the same category for The Power of the Dog, the film which leads the pack with a total of 12 nominations. Dune follows closely behind as it's in the running for 10 different awards.

In terms of animation, Disney is once again the studio pulling in the most nominations. Encanto, Raya and the Last Dragon and Pixar's Luca will be competing against Flee and Netflix's The Mitchells vs. The Machines.

As Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to smash box-office records, many fans began insisting the film was worthy of a Best Picture award. Speaking to the film ending up on the Oscar's shortlist, Holland noted that while he would be honored to be nominated, the award isn't how he quantifies the film's success. "We like to validate ourselves with the love we received from the general public and, so far, that has been through the roof. So for me, with this film and this character, I've already achieved everything," said Holland.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 27. The show begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.
