In No Way Home, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) helps Spider-Man (Tom Holland) re-hide his identity after it was exposed by Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) at the end of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, the spell they attempt to use goes awry and ends up pulling in a number of key villains from previous Spider-Man franchises, including Otto Octavius/Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Max Dillon/Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe). Over the course of the movie, a schism forms between Strange and Spider-Man over what to do with the villains. While Strange wants to send them back to their home dimensions, where they'll likely be killed, Spider-Man works to reform them so that their fates might be changed.
