It looks like Spider-Man: No Way Home is swinging onto digital platforms early.

Shortly after a Blu-ray-quality copy of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' latest Spider-Man blockbuster was released online, iTunes updated the digital release date from March 22 to March 15.

Spider-Man: No Way Home featured Tom Holland's Peter Parker uniting with the versions of the character played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield after accidentally bringing Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon/Electro, Thomas Haden Church's Flint Marko/Sandman and Rhys Ifans' Dr. Curt Conners/Lizard into his universe. With the help of Doctor Strange, he's eventually able to send the villains back to their respective realms, but it comes at a cost, as the memory of Peter Parker is erased from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Released in December 2021, No Way Home went on to become a box office juggernaut, grossing an impressive $1.8 billion worldwide and shattering numerous records, pandemic or otherwise. That said, the future of Spider-Man on the big screen is currently unclear.

A new Spider-Man trilogy was announced in November 2021, but Holland has played coy about what sort of role he'll play in those films. Meanwhile, rumors point to Garfield reprising his role following his return in No Way Home, despite the actor vehemently claiming his time as Peter Parker is done. "No plans, that's the truth," he said before readily admitting that after his pre-No Way Home press, he doesn't expect anyone to believe him. "Everyone's gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life. I'm the boy who cried wolf."

For the film's screenwriters, No Way Home was designed to serve as a potential fitting conclusion to Holland's tenure as Spider-Man. "I think we're always trying to tell an organic story with Tom Holland's Peter Parker, knowing that we can't be reliant on anything else other than he's got to go his own way at the end of this movie, each movie," co-writer Chris McKenna said. "I think it's been incredible, we've been a part of this collaboration with Sony and Marvel Studios, and Amy [Pascal] and Kevin [Feige]. I think we always know that it's total hubris to think, 'Oh, we're going to end with a certain cliffhanger that will require things that we can't depend on.'"

Spider-Man: No Way Home on Digital March 15 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD April 12.
