Daredevil fans almost saw more of Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

A leaked behind-the-scenes featurette reveals that a scene was filmed with Happy Hogan actor Jon Favreau and Charlie Cox, who reprised his role from the Daredevil series for the film. While Murdock only appears onscreen for a single scene, he advised Hogan that he would "need a really good lawyer" before catching a brick thrown through the window and labeling himself as one. The deleted scene appears to focus on Murdock acting as Hogan's "really good lawyer" while he is under investigation for technology that went missing from Stark Industries.

In February, Cox revealed that he and Jon Favreau attempted to slip an Easter egg into the film referencing Franklin "Foggy" Nelson. Foggy Nelson is Matt Murdock's law partner and best friend, who was portrayed by Elden Henson on the Netflix Marvel series. Before Henson though, Favreau portrayed the character alongside actor Ben Affleck in 2003's Daredevil film. Being that the two were going to be in No Way Home together, they couldn't ignore the coincidence.

When discussing the cut reference, Cox said, "I don't think they used it, but we added a little Easter egg where he goes, 'Yeah, I'm a little foggy on how that happened' or something," describing the chance to talk to Favreau about Daredevil as a "cool moment." However, Cox never specified if the moment was supposed to take place in the scene that made the final cut of the film, or one that was scrapped altogether.

While the actor may not have heard cheers at his return during a screening of No Way Home, fans were thrilled that the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought Cox back as Murdock. Daredevil was cancelled back in 2018 along with the rest of the live-action Marvel shows on Netflix. While these shows are no longer available on the streaming platform, they will be landing on Disney+ on March 16.

As for Daredevil's future in the MCU, there are rumors circulating that the character is set to appear in other upcoming projects, including Moon KnightShe-HulkEchoIron Heart and Armor Wars. A reportedly leaked hiring sheet also indicates that a new Daredevil-centric project is in the works as well. However, no official confirmation has been given on any of these rumors and reports.

While Daredevil will soon be available to stream in its entirety on Disney+, Spider-Man: No Way Home is still playing in theaters and will be available on Blu-ray in early April, and digital platforms on March 15.
