Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland hints at a scene between him and a mystery character in the upcoming film.

Speaking to Empire, Holland, who will once again portray Peter Parker/Spider-Man, said he filmed "one of the coolest scenes I've ever shot" while working on the third Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he obviously couldn't divulge too much, he did reveal that the scene includes Holland's Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei's Aunt May, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and a mystery fourth character.

"It's four people sitting at a table, having a conversation about what it's like to be a superhero, and it was amazing," Holland said. "The other day we watched the scene, my brother and I, and our jaws were on the floor." Whether it's a different Spider-Man or another Avenger, this fourth person will likely remain a mystery until Spider-Man: No Way Home appears in theaters.

However, since the film's announcement, there has been plenty of speculation over who, exactly, will appear in Holland's third Spider-Man film. Namely, it's been rumored that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as their respective Spider-Men, but neither of the actors' involvement has been confirmed by Sony, Marvel or the actors themselves. In particular, Garfield has denied his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home more than once.

"I understand why people are freaking out about the concept of that because I'm a fan as well...," Garfield said in a previous interview. "You can't help but imagine scenes and moments of 'Oh, my God, how fucking cool would it be if they did that?'" He continued, "But it's important for me to say on the record that this is not something I'm aware I am involved in."

In terms of villains, Alfred Molina, who played Dr. Otto Octavius/Doc Ock in Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy has already been confirmed to return for No Way Home, with new images offering a closer look at Peter and Ock's battle in the film, which was teased in the trailer.

Filming for Spider-Man: No Way Home began in Atlanta, GA in late 2020. While the specifics of the plot have been kept tightly under wraps, it was also rumored that No Way Home would be building toward a live-action version of the Sinister Six, which consists of Green Goblin leading Doctor Octopus, Electro, The Sandman, The Rhino and The Lizard. Recent magazine covers seemingly confirmed the return of Sandman, Jamie Foxx's Electro and possibly Mysterio, furthering this speculation.

In a recent interview, director Jon Watts described the film as "Spider-Man: Endgame," a reference to Avengers: Endgame, which was the penultimate conclusion of the MCU's Phase 3 and a culmination of all the films that came before it. "We're definitely trying to be ambitious," said Watts.

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
