It's been more than six years since actor Andrew Garfield donned the Spidey suit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but that hasn't kept fans from speculating on whether Garfield's Peter Parker will join the multiverse cast of the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Garfield has once again gone on record firmly denying this speculation.

Garfield addressed his rumored appearance in No Way Home during an interview with Variety. Although the actor empathized with fans about how awesome it would be to see his Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire, Garfield clarified his lack of involvement in the upcoming film. "I understand why people are freaking out about the concept of that because I'm a fan as well," Garfield said. "You can't help but imagine scenes and moments of 'Oh, my God, how fucking cool would it be if they did that?'"

Garfield continued, "But it's important for me to say on the record that this is not something I'm aware I am involved in." With this latest denial marking one of several times this year Garfield has had to address his rumored involvement in No Way Home, the actor went on to express the difficulty of convincing fans otherwise in the recent interview. "But I know I'm not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don't know what’s happening," he said. "No matter what I say, I'm fucked. It's either going to be really disappointing for people or it's going to be really exciting."

No Way Home's latest trailer teased the return of Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) from Sam Rami's Spider-Man films. Such returns have naturally led fans to speculate other characters from The Amazing Spider-Man films could appear as well, with one theory even suggesting Garfield's Spider-Man being a villain in No Way Home. Another character expected to return from The Amazing Spider-Man series is Electro, played by Jamie Foxx.

Garfield isn't the only Marvel Cinematic Universe actor who had to recently deny his character's involvement in No Way HomeCharlie Cox, who played Matt Murdock in Netflix's now-canceled Daredevil series, went on the record earlier this month addressing speculation following an IMAX version of the latest No Way Home trailer. "I can assure you," Cox told fans, "those are not my forearms."

To find out who else will be emerging from the multiverse, eager audiences will need to wait until Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
