Insomniac Games and Marvel are teaming up again to bring Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales to Playstation. This stand-alone game tells the story of Miles and his journey to becoming a different Spider-Man. Gifted with a different set of powers, Miles must step up to become a distinguished web-swinging superhero.

Despite being set after the first game, this entry is 100% Miles Morales. Creative Director Brian Horton reassured fans in a PlayStation Blog post that Peter would return in his own game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is only concerned with its title character. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming action-adventure title.

The Story So Far

About one year after Marvel's Spider-Man, Miles Morales is living in East Harlem in the winter. His mom, Rio Morales, is campaigning for the city council, and Miles is still learning how to be Spider-Man. In the recent gameplay demo, Miles walks through a political rally for his mother while hanging out with his best friend, Ganke Lee.

During Miles' surreal walkthrough of his mother's street fair, a group of criminals called the Underground begins a battle with the energy company, Roxxon. The fight moves through the neighborhood and approaches the Braithwaite Bridge, where Miles must take action as Spider-Man.

The bridge begins to crumble as the Underground continue their onslaught. These criminals are lead by the Tinkerer, a genius engineer and classic villain from Marvel's comic books. Their target is a Roxxon truck that is transporting NuForm Energy. According to Roxxon, the substance will fuel an entire city with clean energy.

Miles attempts to stop the criminal group from stealing the truck's energy cells, but accidentally triggers an explosion with his signature venom blasts. Unfortunately, his shocking fingertips fail to stop the Tinkerer and the Underground members from destroying the bridge. The trailer ends with Miles frantically saving multiple people from the surrounding chaos.

Release Date

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales already looks like a lot of fun, but when can gamers experience it? Insomniac Games worked hard to bring the game to Sony's brand new PlayStation 5 console, but it will be available for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12th.

There will be two separate versions of the game. The physical and digital standard edition will cost $49.99. Available for both PS4 and PS5, the standard edition will house the base game.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition will cost $69.99 exclusively for the PlayStation 5. This physical and digital version contains the base game and a voucher code for Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered.

Built to take advantage of the power of the PlayStation 5, Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered will contain all previous DLC, run at 60fps, and updates to character models. Of course, the remaster will also have ray-tracing and fresh feedback on the new DualSense controller.

Insomniac Games understands that not everyone will be able to get their hands on the new PlayStation 5. Because everyone's upgrade situation will be different, anyone who purchases Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 4 will be able to play the game on PlayStation 5. How the PS5 transition will work is still unknown.

Insomniac Games has also announced a pre-order bonus for the upcoming game. Gamers who pre-order will gain access to two new Spidey suits, one of which is called the T.R.A.C.K. suit, which will give Miles the "Untrackable Suit" mod. The T.R.A.C.K. suit, which stands for Time Response Activated Circuit Kinetic, was designed by comic book artist Javier Garrón.

On Friday the 13th, Insomniac Games revealed a second suit included with the game's pre-order. The suit from the major motion picture, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will be available with every pre-order. Miles' iconic suit will feature different animations inspired by the movie. Fighting enemies with the suit equipped will also feature pop-up wording just like the in the film.

The Gravity Well Gadget will unlock early with pre-order. The gadget is supposed to tether nearby enemies and pull them to its center point. Finally, pre-order will give gamers three additional skill points to help Miles unlock his true potential as Spider-Man.

Game Differences

Besides the apparent hardware difference between the first Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, there will be other changes. Miles is an entirely different Spider-Man than Peter. Gameplay for Miles shows that players can take advantage of his Venom Blast attacks and camouflage cloaking. So far, the only ability that seems to have carried over is webbing.

Creative Director Brian Horton claims that Miles' story is similar to the length of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The shorter story length makes sense with the lower-priced standard edition of the title. He also claims that Miles' story is critical to Insomniac's vision for their Spider-Man mythos.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is already on many gaming radars, especially if there is a shiny new PlayStation 5 involved. Bundling the two Spider-Man games together in an Ultimate Edition may be a console seller, but who knows what Insomniac Games could be tinkering with behind closed doors.

Developed by Insomniac Games and PlayStation Studios, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 12th.
