Announced yesterday at Sony's press conference for the PlayStation 5, there's been some confusion about just what Insomniac Games' Spider-Man: Miles Morales is. While many at first assumed the game was a standalone, a report later claimed Miles Morales was essentially an expansion pack as part of an enhanced version of Spider-Man. However, Insomniac Games has now clarified those remarks, claiming Miles Morales will indeed be a standalone offering.Insomniac Games wrote on Twitter, "Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the next adventure in the Marvel's Spider-Man universe. We will reveal more about this standalone game at a future date." Insomniac Games also noted Miles Morales was a standalone game in several responses to the tweet.RELATED: The Best Pokémon Team for the Post-Apocalypse

According to Bloomberg, Miles Morales will be more akin to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in scope, meaning it's not a full sequel to Spider-Man and will be smaller than that game.

Created by Insomniac Games, Marvel's Spider-Man released on PS4 in September 2018 and became one of the fastest-selling games of the year, one of the best-selling PS4 games of all time and the fastest-selling superhero game in the U.S. It was also praised critically, earning several end-of-the-year accolades and releasing a Game of the Year edition in August 2019. The game followed Peter Parker in his battle against the Sinister Six, among others.

Insomniac's Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches this holiday season on PS5.
