PlayStation has released a launch trailer or Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, ahead of the game's debut on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The trailer begins with Peter Parker forcing Miles to take an oath, promising to do everything in his power to protect the city while Peter is away. We then get quick looks at some of Spider-Man: Miles Morales' supporting characters, including Ganke Lee and his mother, Rio Morales. Next, the scenes pivot to Spider-Man: Miles Morales' central villains: Roxxon's Simon Krieger, Miles' uncle Aaron Davis (aka Prowler), Tinkerer and the Underground.

Miles finds himself in the middle of a turf war between the Underground and Roxxon. Right as the odds appear to be stacked against our young Spider-Man, he finally steps up to accept the mantle. Energetic fight scenes flash across the screen, displaying the visual power behind the PlayStation 5.

The trailer finally ends as Miles Morales and his crimefighting cat, also called Spider-Man, team up to take down an opponent. The Spider-Cat leaps out of Miles' backpack, also sporting a Spider-Man mask over its head. Although Spider-Cat bears a strong resemblance to Captain Marvel's Goose in the MCU, it appears that it's an entirely new character brought in for Spider-Man: Miles Morales' universe. The cat also plays a bigger role than a cute cameo; as Game Informer noted in a video caption, "our new feline friend makes for more than just a fun side quest."

The narrative continues from Marvel’s Spider-Man and its downloadable content The City That Never Sleeps, during which Miles Morales is bitten by a genetically-enhanced spider and gains powers similar to Peter Parker’s.

A year after the first game’s conclusion, Miles has fully integrated himself into the role of a Spider-Man and is defending both his new home in Harlem and the rest of New York City from a gang war between the Roxxon Energy Corporation and a high-tech criminal army called Underground led by the Tinkerer. Parker tells Miles that he has to be like his late father and walk on the path to becoming a hero for the city of New York.
