Sales of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales rose big time in the United Kingdom thanks to a surge in PlayStation 5 stock.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, the rise in PS5 stock led to 64% sales increase for boxed PS5 games in the U.K., with physical copies of Spider-Man: Miles Morales in particular seeing a whopping 172% week-on-week rise. The Marvel game previously sat at number seven on the chart of top-selling boxed games in the U.K., with this influx of purchases causing it to climb all the way to the number two spot.
Had Miles Morales sold an additional 1,000 units, it would have taken the number one spot, which is currently held by Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Despite seeing a 38% week-on-week decline in sales, the Nintendo Switch title still enjoyed its third consecutive week at the top of the chart.
The follow-up to the 2018 game Marvel's Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4, Miles Morales was a PS5 launch title, releasing on Nov. 12, 2020 in North America and Australia, with a PS4 version available worldwide that same day. The PS5 version saw its own worldwide release one week later on Nov. 19.
Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
