Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) and Miles Morales/Spider-Man (Shameik Moore) continue their interdimensional scuffle in a new official still image from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One).

Today, USA Today posted a gallery featuring a slew of still from a number of upcoming movies, including The Batman, ScreamHotel Transylvania: Transformania and, of course, Across the Spider-Verse (Part One). The image in question effectively serves as a continuation of the first-look footage released back in December, with the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man attempting to swing away as Spider-Man 2099 grabs him by the ankle.

The aforementioned first look at Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) picks up right where the Oscar-winning 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse left off. After being reunited with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld), Miles finds himself on an interdimensional journey, during which he is being pursued by the Spider-Man of tomorrow, Miguel O'Hara, who had a post-credits cameo in Into the Spider-Verse. For reasons unknown, Miggy is attempting to grab hold of Miles, who is having none of it. However, while the sneak peek seems to paint the two Spider-Men as adversaries, it's most likely a big misunderstanding.

Created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi, Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099 was originally introduced in 1992's Amazing Spider-Man #365 before making his first full appearance later that same year in Spider-Man 2099 #1. A brilliant geneticist living in the futuristic city of Nueva York, Miguel lives in a future where most of the Marvel superheroes fans know and love are nothing but legends. However, Miggy becomes the Spider-Man of the year 2099 after falling victim to a sabotaged experiment, which rewrites his DNA to be 50 percent that of a spider.

Miguel is a rather significant character in the Spider-Man mythos. First and foremost, he was the first character other than Peter Parker to officially assume the mantle of Spider-Man, beating Ben Reilly to the punch by about four years (in terms of publication years, that is). He was also the very first biracial Spider-Man, being of half Irish and half Mexican decent. Miles Morales, the main protagonist of Into the Spider-Verse, is himself a biracial Spider-Man, being half Black and half Puerto Rican, meaning both he and Miguel have Hispanic roots.

In addition to Moore, Steinfeld and Isaac reprising their roles as Miles, Gwen and Miguel, respectively, Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) sees Jake Johnson reprise his role as Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man. Additionally, Issa Rae has been cast as the Jessica Drew version of Spider-Woman. As its title implies, the upcoming sequel to Into the Spider-Verse is a two-part film. Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is scheduled to hit theaters this coming October, with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) slated for release in 2023.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) release in theaters on Oct. 7.
