Celebrities are people, too, and like most people, many are still reeling from the news of Sony Pictures cutting ties with The Walt Disney Company, thus removing Spider-Man from his recently reunited Marvel Studios family.
One such celebrity (and unabashed fan of all things comic book culture), Kevin Smith, shared perhaps the most accurate response to what many fans are feeling right now -- a resounding "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Just stop it! Please, @SonyPictures - give @Disney what they want and many millions of us will keep giving you our money! Hey, @marcbernardin! Guess what we’ll be talking about tonight at @SVCantina (after we dish @MastersOfficial)? #FatManBeyond https://t.co/ALoOkpVrm1— KevinSmith (@ThatKevinSmith) August 20, 2019
With Spider-Man: Far From Home recently nabbing the title from Skyfall for Sony's most profitable movie release of all-time, a sequel and/or continuing MCU involvement seemed all but inevitable. While there still exists the possibility of Disney and Sony salvaging a deal to keep everyone happy, as of right now, it appears that Spidey will be swinging in a much different neighborhood in the coming years.
Now in theaters, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Kevin Smith's next film, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, is due in theaters on October 15.
