WARNING: Spoilers follow for Amazing Spider-Man #63 by Nick Spencer, Federico Vicentini, Alex Sinclair & VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

When Spider-Man decided to take a paycheck to live-stream his battles as a superhero, it seemed like he had sold out. However, it turns out there is a lot more behind Spidey's decision than just a way to pay rent.

Spider-Man and Boomerang were busy battling for their lives against hoards of the criminal underworld, led by Hammerhead and then later by the Owl. Mayor Wilson Fisk, The Kingpin, has put up a huge bounty for Boomerang, and this has both men running for their lives. It wasn't until the two factions began to battle each other that Spider-Man and Boomerang escaped. However, before they did, Spider-Man made some great observations.

Once Hammerhead and Owl began to battle each other, Boomerang escaped, and Spider-Man lept back into action. He pointed out that, even against all the odds, his new suit from Threats and Menaces makes him faster and able to hit more targets. He even has a new weapon called the web-mick that trapped both Hammerhead and Owl at one time. After this, Spider-Man jumped into the second part of his new gig, which, believe it or not, is another positive reason for the new job as a live-streaming superhero.

Spider-Man and his fans

After he trapped the bad guys in his web-muck, Spider-Man hit the ground and went to see his fans. These are people who know Spider-Man thanks to the live stream, and he is more than happy to pose for photos with them after his battle against the criminal underworld. Even J. Jonah Jameson is there to help him mug for the cameras, and while Spider-Man said he is struggling to get used to this part of the job, it serves a huge purpose. Spider-Man admits that this is just a refresh from when he used to sell photos of himself in action to the Daily Bugle, but this is bigger.

Spider-Man is gaining fans by the minute thanks to the Internet live-streaming and the public awareness of what he is doing.  This publicity has put a dent in Mayor Wilson Fisk's approval rating. On top of the great memes, there is a lot to love about his new job as a superhuman live-streamer. It has almost seemed like Kingpin is untouchable because of his status as the mayor, which gives him full access to his militarized police force. However, the one thing that can defeat him is losing the next election, and as long as Spider-Man makes him look bad, that could come sooner than expected.

Spider-Man live-streaming

While Spider-Man is making Wilson Fisk look bad, the Kingpin is likely to start pulling out all the stops to capture Boomerang and get the tablet that he so desires to bring his wife back from the grave. He has already sent in everyone from Hammerhead and Owl to Mister Negative, Madame Masque and Baron Mordo to achieve his goals. The more Spider-Man uses his new role as an Internet icon to his advantage, the more than Kingpin will do to destroy him.
