Marvel Comics provided CBR with an exclusive preview of Amazing Spider-Man #10, by writer Zeb Wells, artist Nick Dragotta, colorist Marcio Menyz and letterer VC's Joe Caramagna. The preview reveals why Gwen Stacy has seemingly returned from the dead.

A tie-in to Marvel's ongoing "Judgment Day" event," Amazing Spider-Man #10 opens with a quick update on what's happening in that book, with the Celestial Progenitor judging humanity to determine whether to destroy it. Peter Parker/Spider-Man calls Tony Stark/Iron Man to ask just what's going on. Stark explains that Progenitor is sometimes appearing as someone from a person's past in order to judge them. In this case, Stacy is the person who is judging Spider-Man. That's where the preview ends, leaving it unclear just what the verdict might be in terms of Peter himself, though Progenitor does eventually decide humanity failed its test.

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Stacy debuted in 1965's The Amazing Spider-Man #31 and was a key love interest for Parker. However, in 1973, Gerry Conway and Gil Kane helmed "The Night Gwen Stacy Died," a storyline in which the Green Goblin lured Spider-Man to one of New York's bridges using Stacy. The villain then threw her off, and Spider-Man attempted to catch her with his webbing. However, Stacy doesn't survive the encounter. There's often been some question as to what exactly killed the character. Regardless, the event remains one of the darkest in Spider-Man's adventures and one that's haunted Parker for years.
