Kirsten Dunst has been outspoken in the past on wanting to reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the actor is reinforcing that claim once again.

With the progressing thread of the Multiverse in the MCU, more characters from previous Marvel films have been able to return. In an interview with Backstage, Dunst reiterated her desire to play Mary Jane again, stating, "You know I’d join that multiverse! I feel like I’m the only one that hasn’t joined it." Dunst elaborated by saying, "I’m like, ‘Please put me in. Put me in the lineup.’ I need to pay for my house and kids."

This isn't the first time Dunst has stated she'd be open to returning to the role. She's previously discussed her desire to portray an older version of her Mary Jane Watson, but she has yet to be asked by Marvel Studios. "I wish they'd put me in another one," the actor has stated. "Like, old-girl Mary Jane -- why not?" Dunst famously portrayed Mary Jane in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, opposite Tobey Maguire.

Though Dunst has expressed interest in becoming the "Girl Next Door" again, she's also been candid about issues that occurred during the filming of the Raimi trilogy. Dunst described the pay disparity that existed between her and Maguire, as well as a situation in which she was told by a Spider-Man producer to fix her teeth. Despite the issues, the actor has reaffirmed how much being a part of the Spider-Man trilogy meant to her. "That was a huge part of my career and my life," Dunst previously explained.

Maguire recently returned to portray his version of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside fellow wall-crawlers Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield. In the film, Maguire and Garfield's Spider-Men are pulled into the MCU to help Holland's Peter cure the villains of the Multiverse. Maguire's Peter-Two references that he was finally able to make things work with his MJ.

Though they return to their respective universes at the end of the film, a deleted scene teases that Maguire and Garfield's Peter-Two and Peter-Three may return. Additionally, Spider-Man will be featured in theaters again when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) premieres on Oct. 7.
