WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man #56 by Nick Spencer, Mark Bagley, Andrew Hennessy, John Dell, Rachelle Rosenberg, Edgar Delgado and VC's Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

Peter Parker's entire life has been upended in the most horrifying ways by the demented Sin-Eater and maniacal Kindred. Not just his life, but those of the Order of the Web, and even Mary Jane. It seems as though everyone involved in this particular story is connected in ways that nobody could have anticipated. That doesn't just apply to those caught in the middle of the fray, but those looking in from the outside as well, namely Wilson Fisk. For the former Kingpin, this isn't the result of just another underhanded dealing, it's a hate seated in a deeply personal place.

Teamed with Norman Osborn and wielding an unwilling Spot to act as a weapon, Wilson Fisk was successful in capturing and containing Kindred at the end of the horrific dinner date he had set up between himself, Mary Jane and Peter Parker. Both of the villains want a shot at the demonic Harry Osborn, Norman seeking to do as much pain as possible before Fisk deals the killing blow. Considering Norman's most recent reveal as still being more Green Goblin than man, it makes sense that he would want to torture Kindred. Fisk, on the other hand, doesn't have nearly the personal connection to Harry that Norman does, though he still has good reason to want to see the insectile aberration that Harry has become crushed beneath his heel.

All the way back in The Amazing Spider-Man #26 by Nick Spencer and Kev Walker, it was revealed that Fisk had made his own dark deal with Kindred, allowing the demon's centipede to rest upon him as he kneeled in a show of submission. From that point, Fisk made sure that his own actions wouldn't interfere in Kindred's plans, even going so far that his soldiers turned back when confronted with Peter Parker while hunting down Boomerang for the former Kingpin. While the exact nature of their agreement remains undefined, it seems that Kindred never lived up to his end of the bargain, and that might just kill him.

Now that Kindred is trapped at Ravencroft, Fisk and Norman Osborn can finally meet to discuss their next respective courses of action. Fisk is astounded to see his quarry unmoving in their prison, and is quick to make sure that the younger Osborn knows why this has come to pass. Whatever it was that Fisk had asked of Kindred, which he describes as "the one thing I yearned for most in this life," was apparently denied him by the demon. There aren't many things that Wilson Fisk covets that he isn't more than capable of acquiring on his own, but fans of the character know more than well that the only thing he truly holds above all else is his family. If a chance to be reunited with them is what Kindred kept from Fisk, even though the crime lord turned mayor very clearly held up whatever his own end of the bargain was, then there might not be any hope left of saving Harry Osborn's soul.
