James Gunn, the writer/director of Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequels, has given his opinion on the split of Disney and Sony Pictures over the use of Spider-Man in future films.

"It's two corporations working their shit out. I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes," the director said on Instagram. "But speaking of that, the day I shot this scene was the day I introduced Tom Holland to Stan Lee for the first time."

Additionally, Gunn offered some kind words for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts, as well as Tom Holland, calling them both "class acts."

While the future of Spider-Man films remains uncertain, Holland has confirmed that he will continue to play the web-slinger.

Gunn is currently writing/directing DC's The Suicide Squad, a soft reboot to 2016's Suicide Squad. He will also be returning to write and direct the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, which is reported to begin production in February 2021.
