Created by Jason LaTour and Robbi Rodriguez during the 2014-2105 Spider-Verse crossover storyline, Gwen is from a universe where she was bitten by the iconic radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. She summarizes the highlights of her two-year career as Spider-Gwen, during which she saves her dad, Captain George Stacy, while also being a drummer in the band known in the comics as the Mary Janes. We see her fighting other versions of classic Spider-Man villains, such as the Lizard and Doctor Octopus, before she gets sucked into an interdimensional wormhole that brings her to Miles’ world.

Gwen’s debut was so well received by critics and fans that she got her own ongoing series in 2015 and 2016, and has appeared in multiple video games and animated shows. She is currently a character on Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors with the codename Ghost Spider. A new ongoing series tied into the current Spider-Geddon crossover began this October.
