The Infinite Destinies storyline will pit the heroes of the Marvel Universe against beings who have been empowered by the Infinity Stones, and Spider-Man is getting in on the action.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 sees the Web-Slinger battling Captain Marvel enemy Star. Star is the alter ego of Ripley Ryan, who was genetically engineered as a Kree/human hybrid and empowered by the Reality Stone. The annual will be written by Karla Pacheco (Spider-Woman) and illustrated by Eleonora Carlini (Go Go Power Rangers.)

"I love Star because honestly, she's a massive jerk. I am beyond excited to be a part of the Infinite Destinies event because I A) got to write a Spider-Man story, and B) got to write Star being a massive jerk to Spider-Man," Pacheco told Newsarama. "I also put in a bunch of dogs, and some downright excruciating jokes."

"I've been yelled at by both Jed MacKay and Kelly Thompson for making some of the worst puns ever, and my editor Sarah Brunstad has repeatedly threatened to fire me (with good cause)!" she continued. "Can't wait for everyone to check it out! I think it's a super fun story and definitely no one should fire me ever."

Infinite Destinies will take place across a series of eight annuals, and also features a backup story that features Nick Fury and Phil Coulson locked in combat. The storyline will conclude in the pages of Black Cat with the "Infinity Score" story arc. Felicia Hardy had previously been teased as having a large role in the events of Infinite Destinies.

Written by Karla Pacheco and illustrated by Eleonora Carlini, Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 goes on sale in July from Marvel.
