Peter Parker's first solo Marvel Cinematic Universe foray proved advantageous for both Disney and Sony, as the film earned more than $880 million at the worldwide box office. The figures made Spider-Man: Homecoming the highest-grossing superhero movie of 2017, so naturally the two moviemaking conglomerates will seek to fast-track a sequel. Now, thanks to a behind-the-scenes report, fans might know when cameras will begin rolling for the web-swinger's next live-action adventure.

According to Omega Underground, filming for the presently-untitled sequel is slated to begin in June in Atlanta, and the production will likely then wrap during winter of 2018. The film is likely to see helmer Jon Watts once again in the director's chair, with screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna also returning.

Homecoming sequel isn't all that Sony currently has on the docket for its pocket Spidey universe, however, as the studio also has Venom featuring Tom Hardy in the leading role in early production, in addition to Gina Prince-Bythewood's Silver & Black, which are scheduled to release on October 5, 2018 and February 8, 2019 respectively.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. The film is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital streaming platforms.
