The latest trailer for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" included a pivotal scene of Spidey's mentor and founding Avenger, Tony Stark, taking back the high-tech suit he created for the wall crawler. There may be a good reason for Stark to take back his property, as Spider-Man discovers some brand new abilities once he unlocks a safety protocol in the suit.

According to Screen Rant, co-producer Eric Carroll describes this feature as a "Training Wheels Protocol" put in to block Peter Parker from uncovering the suit's full abilities. Luckily, Peter is an engineering wizard in his own right -- afterall, he did create the formula for his webbing -- and breaks through the protocol to reveal a host of new powers like holographic interfaces, parachutes, and more. Tom Holland showed his excitement by teasing, "I’m definitely excited for you guys to see stuff that Spider-Man has never done before."

"He figures out it has a heater, which might have come in handy in the other ones. He finds out that it lights up," Carroll says of Spidey's suit's super abilities. "At an inopportune time, he finds that out. At one point, there’s… the Spider logo on his chest goes [makes motion with hands] and floats off and starts giving him surveillance data, and he’s like, ‘What?’ In fact, that startles him when it happens because he didn’t even know that would happen. … Long story short, we tried to look through the comics and pull out all of the sort of fun and wacky things that Steve [Ditko] did, which seemed even harder to explain when he built it in his own bedroom. So, like, there’s an air bag at one point. What else? There are different sorts of webs that he can unlock, too. He has one that can sort of tase people. One that shoots multiple webs at the same time out of one wrist – like, it shoots in two or three different directions."

Directed by Jon Watts (“Clown”), written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (“Vacation”) and starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Donald Glover and many, many others, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
