It appears that Sphero, the company behind the Star Wars BB-8 app-enabled droid, may be at work on an interactive toy for Marvel and Sony's "Spider-Man: Homecoming." The news comes from Lee Ratliff, who managed to uncover various Sphero FCC filings that suggest the company is currently hard at work on a unknown Spider-Man related product.

As you can see from the photo above, it's rather hard to make out what the toy is, but it is clearly a Spidey-related item -- whatever it is! What we do know is that the toy will be interactive (much like BB-8 was) and it will have an LCD on each eye to allow for animation. We also know that the toy will "include [an] infrared sensor, microphone for speech recognition, accelerometer and a LED-lit power button [on] the chest."

This would be the first of its kind for the Marvel films. Following the massive success of the BB-8 toy ahead of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," it isn't entirely surprising that Disney has decided to bring Sphero into the fold of its Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Jon Watts (“Clown”), written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (“Vacation”) and starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Donald Glover and many, many others, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
