When Sony's most recent attempt to reboot the Spider-Man franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man failed to perform at the box office, rumors began swirling that the rights for the fan-favorite character had finally been returned to Marvel Studios. That wasn't exactly true, of course, although the two studios went on to surprise everyone when they announced they'd joined together to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And while Tom Holland's Spider-Man already debuted as the web-slinger in last year's Captain America: Civil War, his first solo film as Spider-Man won't hit theaters until next month. Thankfully, for those eager to see a proper Spider-Man film set within the MCU, early reactions for Homecoming seem to suggest that the film could be the best Spider-Man film to date.RELATED: Spider-Man: Homecoming Projected For $90M-$108M Debut.

And while some critics are unable to cite Homecoming as the best ahead of Spider-Man 2, they can all agree on one thing: that the film is fun. This is something that should ease the concerns of those that were initially worried following the hiring of the Vacation co-directing team, John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.

The film also manages to provide a great villain in Michael Keaton's Vulture, with some critics stating he's the best MCU villain since Tom Hiddleston's Loki.

With the film originally tracking for an opening weekend between $90 million an $108 million, it's entirely possible word of mouth will help the film go above the $100 million mark in its opening weekend. Of course, with a little under two weeks to go now, more accurate estimates should hit soon.

Arriving July 7, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. Tickets are on sale now.
