Spider-Man: Homecoming will finally swing into theaters in China next week, and a slew of new international posters for the event showcase Peter Parker in unusual places and doing unusual things. For example, one poster finds the web slinger riding a horse with a colorful landscape in the background, and another sees Spidey relaxing with a bunch of pandas.
The posters for Spider-Man: Homecoming were a hot topic among fans, occasionally landing a heavy dose of criticism while some drew praise for capturing the film's more easygoing vibe. However, the posters that have been released for China are on a very different level.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has earned $737 million worldwide so far, becoming the seventh highest-grossing release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, firmly between Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Although Homecoming has already passed 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($709 million) at the global box office and is within striking distance of 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man ($757.9 million), it’s unlikely to touch the final tallies of Sam Raimi’s original trilogy (2002’s Spider-Man 2 comes in at No. 3 with $783.3 million).
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
