While contradicting reports in recent weeks have led to confusion about the relationship between Sony's planned Spider-Man spinoffs and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it appears Spider-Man: Homecoming could have a connection to one of those films.

According to Splash Report, The Scorpion -- played in Homecoming by Better Call Saul's Michael Mando -- is set to have a significant role in the announced Silver Sable/Black Cat movie Silver and Black.

Citing an unnamed source, the website contends that The Scorpion will play a menacing henchman, likened to Dave Bautista's Mr. Hinx in Spectre, to Mendel Stromm, who may be better known to Marvel Comics readers as Robot Master. Splash Report suggests that in Silver and Black, The Scorpion will be equipped with "a cybernetically controlled mechanical tail."

It's unknown whether Mando would cross over from the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the fledgling Spider-Man movie universe, or whether The Scorpion would be re-cast for Silver and Black.

Gina Prince-Bythewood, who directed the pilot for Marvel's Cloak and Dagger, is attached to Silver and Black, which is expected to arrive in theaters in October 2018.
