Marvel/Sony has reportedly cast "Bourne Legacy" and "Orange Is the New Black" star Michael Chernus as the classic Marvel Comics villain The Tinkerer in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

According to Deadline, Chernus' Tinkerer will play opposite Michael Keaton's Vulture in the film.

Created for 1963's "The Amazing Spider-Man" #2 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the Tinkerer is an evil scientist and inventor who is known for creating technology for many of Spider-Man's foes over the years, including Mysterio, Scorpion, Black Cat, Hobgoblin and -- you guessed it -- the Vulture.

Directed by Jon Watts ("Clown"), written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein ("Vacation"), and also starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., and many others, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" thwips into theaters on July 7, 2017.
