Gwen Stacy's death is one of the worst tragedies to befall Spider-Man in over a half-century of being a superhero. But now, one of his greatest new allies just revisited the crime in the worst possible way -- almost killing another hero in the process.

Ghost-Spider was almost forced to kill Miles Morales while she was under the influence of the Kindred -- nearly throwing him off the side of the George Washington Bridge in a dark inverse of the original Gwen Stacy's demise.

Thanks to the actions of Kindred and Sin-Eater, the sins of various Marvel villains have been collected and stolen away. While this leaves the villains in a perpetual state of powerless self-pity and remorse, their sins have been turned into a powerful possessive force that Kindred then unleashed against the Web-Warriors. This led to the various Spider-Heroes (all save for Peter Parker himself, who was spared so he could suffer from the realization of what's happening) to become possessed and controlled by Kindred. Since then, these demonic Spider-Heroes have been laying waste to New York City and decimating plenty of heroes, including the New Warriors.

Throughout the city, the Web-Warriors utilize their own abilities and gifts to wreak havoc in their new demonic forms. They are also amplified by the mysterious energies that were collected by the Sin-Eater and make them conduits for Kindred. It's not long at all before the unleashed Web-Warriors quickly tear apart various innocents around the city, attacking the likes of the New York Police Department and even bringing down the beams holding up the George Washinton Bridge.

Notably, the hero previously known as Spider-Gwen ends up turning against one of her fellow Web-Warriors while the rest just attack random civilians: the alternate-universe Gwen Stacy quickly drags Miles Morales to the top of the George Washington Bridge, the site where her 616-counterpart was infamously thrown to her death by the Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man's #121 & #122, "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" by Gerry Conway & Gil Kane. Lifting him above her body and ripping off her mask, Gwen reveals just how much the corruption has set in and taken her over -- before she throws Miles off the side of the bridge to his likely death.

It's a heart-wrenching moment for Peter, who's being forced to watch the chaos by Kindred. It's also the final straw that forces Peter to turn to Kindred and offer up his own life to Kindred in exchange for the freedom and survival of his fellow heroes. Luckily for Miles, Kindred accepts the deal just in time for the young Spider-Man to be restored and wake up -- giving him the chance to swing to safety. Peter couldn't allow another one of his loved ones to be killed on that bridge, prompting him to seemingly make another deal with a devil despite knowing that sort of choice is what led to this situation in the first place.
