Introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, Flash Thompson makes some pretty major changes to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's classic character of the same name. Among them are turning Flash from a jock into more of a rich kid, though he's still definitely a bully. In this video, we're going to explain how Flash might end up having a bigger role in the MCU by becoming Agent Venom.
Thanks to Sony's Venom, Eddie Brock -- the main user of the titular symbiote -- is finally getting his time in the spotlight, and the success of the original film in 2018 means the character isn't going anywhere anytime soon. However, the future of the Venom symbiote may not be tied exclusively with Brock, especially considering the sometimes rocky relationship Marvel Studios and Sony have.
In the comics, Flash eventually ends up becoming a war hero, but he loses both of his legs in the process. This results in him undergoing an experiment -- Project Rebirth 2.0 -- that bonds him with the captured Venom symbiote. This allows him to become Agent Venom, a soldier with all the powers of Spider-Man and Venom. Bringing this character into the MCU would allow for something different to be done with both Flash and Venom, leading to some interesting possibilities.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could take going forward, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.
