"Spider-Man" Finds New Flash Thompson

What would a high school movie be without a good ol' fashioned jock character in the proceedings?

It turns out that Sony and director Marc Webber's incoming "Spider-Man" film relaunch is following the classic model for teen angst by officially adding actor Chris Zylka to the cast as quarterback bully Flash Thompson, The Wrap reports.

As Spinoff Online noted last night, Zylka had long been rumored to play the part of the teen who traditionally plays equal tormentor to Peter Parker and booster for Spider-Man. The "Hannah Montana" actor joins a cast that includes Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the leads as well as Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse.

The still untitled "Spider-Man" flick just began filming (see the first pics of Stone as Gwen Stacy here), and is set for a July 3, 2012 release. For more on Zylka's casting, check The Wrap, and for more on "Spider-Man" stay tuned to CBR and Spinoff Online.
