Spider-Man: Far From Home was a resounding box office success, catapulting off of the Avengers: Endgame hype while being well-received in its own right. Similar to Endgame, Far From Home has received a theatrical re-release, complete with extra material not seen in the original cut. Announced weeks ago, before the dissolution of the Sony/Marvel partnership, the new cut promised four minutes of new footage, namely a hinted at but unseen action sequence.

Given how minute these additions seem, especially when contrasted to the comparative bevy of material included in the Endgame re-release, fans may question the need to see the movie again. In theaters now, here's what you'll find in this new version of Far From Home.

Peter's To-Do List

The new footage appears within the movie, just before Tom Holland's Peter Parker leaves on his trip to Europe. This sequence begins with Peter mentioning his still-full to-do list to his friend Ned. Chief among the items is taking down the Manfredi crime family. However, a more immediate goal is to secure his passport. Stuck in an unmoving line, Peter activates a Spider-Bot in his backpack. The drone flies away undetected, and flips a switch to open one of the closed lanes for Peter.

His next objective is at the store owned by Mr. Delmar, last seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Peter gathers a few items, and mentions to Mr. Delmar that he's going on a trip to Europe. Mr. Delmar asks if he can come, to which Peter responds that it's a "science trip." Mr. Delmar shows his disinterest, and after Peter asks a question in poor Spanish, he mentions that his Spanish needs work.

Peter then goes to a pawn shop, trading in a shoe box full of action figures to get a gift for MJ. After the clerk says that he hopes the girl is worth it, Peter asks for a favorite Star Wars Lobot figure back.

Spider-Man Vs. Manfredi

The next sequence was actually teased in the film's initial trailers, but it was cut by director Jon Watts because he didn't think it flowed with the rest of the film. It begins with Spider-Man, in the Iron Spider costume, taking out Manfredi family thugs, even as he rushes to complete items on his to-do list. A quipping Spidey is shot at by a machine gun-wielding thug, before bouncing back into action and noting that the suit is bulletproof.

More thugs come at Spider-Man, wielding whatever makeshift weapons they can find. However, the web-slinger makes quick work of them, aided of course by the mechanical arms on the back of his suit. From there, the sequence plays out as shown in the original trailer. The police question Spider-Man, who remarks that he's now officially on vacation.

Is the Re-Release Worth It?

The added content is sparse, which doesn't help quell questions about the need for a re-release. While the new footage is fun, it isn't necessarily worth a return trip if you've already seen the movie. That the scenes were cut to help the film's flow says volumes. Watts has stated the sequence will be included as bonus material in the home release, this time as a separate "bonus film." Die-hard Spider-Man fans may want to check it out, but anyone else can probably wait until the home release.

Director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film's re-release is currently in theaters.
