As expected, Spider-Man: Far From Home had a massively successful Tuesday box office opening, earning $39.2 million from 4,634 North American locations.

Though it didn't quite hit Tuesday's early predictions, which said the film would gross between $40 and $48 million, Far From Home broke the record for Tuesday ticket sales. Interestingly enough, the previous record was set by 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, which made $35 million.

Far from Home is projected to make $125 million over a six-day period, with some offering estimates as high as $150 million. This puts the film on track to beat its predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming, which opened at $117 million over a three-day period. However, while the film has already grossed $150 million from international ticket sales in Japan, Hong Kong and China, it still has a long way to go if it wants to beat Homecoming, which made $880 million worldwide.

Closing out Phase Three of the MCU, Far From Home follows Peter Parker as he embarks on a class trip to Europe, which is hijacked by Nick Fury, who enlists Spider-Man to help Mysterio defeat the Elementals.
