When fans first heard that Mysterio was being considered as the villain for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the first thing that popped to mind was whether or not he'd have his comics-accurate look. After the first trailer for the film offered a glimpse of Jake Gyllenhaal's villain with his classic fishbowl helmet and cape, a new image confirms that he will indeed have it when he suits up in July to battle Tom Holland's wall-crawler.

The image, taken from in-store promotional material, clearly shows the fishbowl helmet design in all of its glory, plus a true-to-the-source-material rendering of Mysterio's costume and his gauntlets. Remarkably. it looks like a design ripped straight from the comics, and it should leave fans excited to see just how he'll pull off his illusions and tricks against Spidey.

In the footage released so far, we've seen Mysterio positioned less of an antagonist to Spidey, but that's expected to change when Holland's character begins to tussle more with "elemental" enemies such as, what appears to be a take on Hydro-Man, and figure out more of Mysterio's grand plan.

It's not totally clear how Spider-Man and Mysterio will come to blows, but we do know that Far From Home will open up immediately after Avengers: Endgame concludes narrative-wise, kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four. Peter will be mentored by Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury here as he also ventures off to Europe with his classmates before he crosses paths with the Master of Illusion.

Opening July 5, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
