Despite the fact that Spider-Man: Far From Home is the actual conclusion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga, the chances that it would rise to any of the financial heights reached by its predecessor, Avengers: Endgame (directed by Joe and Anthony Russo), seem slim. After all, the ensemble film broke virtually every box office record there was. And yet, though it's only been a few days, the latest Spider-Man film has already broken one of Endgame's records.

Just two months ago, Avengers: Endgame dominated the Wednesday box office record with a whopping $25.3 million across North American theaters. Spider-Man: Far From Home topped that by earning $27 million on the first Wednesday of its release. So far, the 23rd film in the MCU franchise has earned $65 million in just two days and is expected to gross between $125-150 million by its sixth, according to Sony.

In comparison, Spider-Man: Homecoming (directed by Jon Watts) earned $117 million in three days. By the end of its theatrical run, the film had grossed $334 million from North America and $880 million worldwide. So far, Spider-Man: Far From Home has earned $150 million worldwide, at the time of this writing.

It's highly unlikely that Spidey's latest film will out-perform Avengers: Endgame in any other way. Out-earning Homecoming, however, is entirely within the realm of possibility, especially since critic and audience reviews consistently suggest that the sequel is superior to its predecessor.

Now in theaters, director Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
