UPDATE: Derrickson has since clarified in a tweet that his comment was a joke.

As the currently untitled Spider-Man 3 continues filming, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson commented on which movie versions of the character are canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"All Spider-man iterations are defacto MCU," Derrickson tweeted in response to a question from director Duncan Jones, who asked, "Tangential connections through portals is covered under the Dr Strange subsection. Can i have a ruling, [Derrickson]?"
