Peter Parker never had it easy. His Uncle and girlfriend both murdered. Clones of his missing parents were sent to kill him. His Aunty married his nemesis. He was cloned so many times he thought he was a clone. A Devil stole his future and erased his daughter. His marriage collapsed and he was sent back in time and had to experience every hardship all over again. Most recently he was body jacked, replaced, and erased.

Thankfully Peter has plenty of friends to lean on through an endless torrent of difficulties, but who is his best Superhero friend?  Is it Daredevil or The Human Torch?

10 It's Daredevil: Secret Identity

In order to shed some of life's stress, everybody needs someone to talk to. It helps if that person has similar experiences and can relate to those stresses. Some would say that's exactly what best friends are for.

Living with a secret identity is a challenge and pit of stress all on its own. Having your secret identity exposed is another. Thankfully for Spider-Man, his bestie Daredevil understands how both of those things feel. Both men have had to deal with the nightmare of lying to loved ones and having those same loved ones become targets when their identity has been revealed.

9 It's The Human Torch: Friends Since School

Johnny Storm and Peter Parker have known each other since high school. Although not a student himself, Johnny went to Peters school to give a talk about being part of The Fantastic Four and never giving up. It came at a time when Peter was ready to ditch the spandex and give up on the superhero business for good.

Johnny's speech really stuck with Peter. Even with all the adversity he faced, he never quits. He always gets back up no matter how many times he gets put down. Great advice from a great friend.

8 It's Daredevil: Covering For Each Other

Best friends break the rules and cover for each other. Usually with no questions asked. So when Daredevil was put on trial, that's what happened. The only way for Matt Murdock to quash the case and keep his secret identity intact was to have Spider-Man don the Devil of Hells Kitchen costume and take the stand in his place.

This breaks quite a few laws and is a subversion of the courts and justice system. For two men that have selflessly given up so much for total strangers however, it can be overlooked.

7 It's The Human Torch: They Want To Switch Places

Peter Parker and Johnny Storm would probably switch places with each other if they could. Always seeking attention, Johnny has permanently been jealous of Spider-Man's press coverage despite it being negative. It's attention and that's what Johnny craves the most.

On the flip side, Peter has always been jealous of Johnny having no real responsibility to bear. He doesn't need to hide his identity and his family doesn't really need to be protected as they all have powers. Best friends usually envy each other to a degree and these two definitely envy one another.

6 It's Daredevil: Personal Tragedy

The history between Karen Page and Daredevil is complicated. She became an addict and traded Matt's secret identity for a score but they managed to work past that. Years later, after being tricked by Mysterio into believing she was HIV positive, she sought out Daredevil.

Unfortunately, Bullseye made an appearance and during the battle, Karen was killed. This sent Daredevil on a downward trajectory and he became suicidal, blaming himself.

Luckily for him, his best friend is Spider-Man. Helping him through his pain, Spidey convinced him there are still good things in the world worth living and fighting for.

5 It's The Human Torch: Part of the Family

Spider-Man tried joining the Fantastic Four early in his career but things did not work out well. Years later, he would become part of Marvel's First Family under tragic circumstances.

During a battle in the Negative Zone, Johnny Storm sacrificed himself to save the team. It was a devastating blow for The Fantastic Four and as his best friend, Peter did everything he could to try and help Johnny's family with the loss.

Peter dropped everything and moved into the Baxter Building and even joined the team (because the Fantastic Three just sounds weak).

4 It's Daredevil: That Heartbeat

Spider-Man face to face with Daredevil

Daredevil's powers uncover some odd things. One of them being his heartbeat being identical to Spider-Mans. Is having the same heartbeat a requirement for friendship? No, thankfully not. Is it a sign that you're destined to be best friends with someone? Again, probably not.

It is one massive coincidence though and in the world of comic book superheroes, coincidences do not exist. The only logical conclusion that can be drawn from all this, is that in the case of Spider-Man and Daredevil, having identical heartbeats is a sign that they are destined to be BFF's for all time.

3 It's The Human Torch: Space

Not every Superhero has been to space. On the list of heroes that have made the journey, not all of them have been involved in Intergalactic Battles. Spider-Man has been on more than one deep-space mission and even wielded the Power Cosmic. Johnny's adventures with the Fantastic Four make him one of the few people that could relate.

Heck, Spider-Man's time as a member of the Fantastic Four makes him one of the few people that could relate to Johnny. Best Friends need to understand each other and their experiences of space travel and Intergalactic battles make the two perfect drinking buddies.

2 It's Daredevil: The Kingpin

Kingpin with a drink

Friends don't just love the same things as each other, they hate the same things. Enter Filson Fisk, A.K.A The Kingpin of crime. This particular scumbag has been a major pain in the spandex for both Spider-Man and Daredevil over the years.

Each has had epic fistfights with him at one point or another and as a good villain never stays dead (or locked up) for long, it's a safe bet more are to come. As besties, Spider-Man and Daredevil might even have a running bet on who can kick Kingpin's ass the most.

1 It's The Human Torch: The Spider-Mobile

One of the hallmarks of a best friend is they support you, no matter how weird your dreams are. Most people would have told the man that can crawl on walls and swing from building to building that a car is redundant. Most people would have (quite rightly) mocked the name of the vehicle.

Not good old Johnny Storm. When Peter decided to build the Spider-Mobile, Johnny was right there to lend a hand.

This is the strongest evidence to suggest Spider-Man and The Human Torch are best friends and it's good that something positive can be found in the existence of the Spider-mobile.
