After half a decade playing Peter Parker's Aunt May in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, actor Marisa Tomei seemingly bade farewell to her on-screen nephew in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Despite her tragic demise, Tomei recently expressed her willingness to return and believes it's far from beyond the realm of possibility.

Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tomei said, "I would love to come back and be a part [of the multiverse]." She went on to add, "There's history there too. May Parker hooks up with Ant-Man in one of them... there are more avenues to explore." It's uncertain which story she is referring to, but what is clear is her willingness to return to the role and dive into even the unlikeliest of stories.

Aunt May aided Spider-Man in the hit film as the superhero tried to cure supervillains from across the multiverse of their afflictions. Unfortunately, after Green Goblin inspired the majority of the supervillain group to embrace their evil and their superpowers, the situation exploded into chaos and ended with the death of Aunt May, whose final words gave Spider-Man his version of an iconic character moment: "with great power, comes great responsibility."

Spider-Man: No Way Home writer Erik Sommers previously revealed that Aunt May's heart-breaking death scene was almost very different. "We had one idea that it was going to be inside an ambulance and we had a whole version that was constructed around that," Sommers said, "but that was not practical for shooting during COVID. So then that's the kind of thing that happened, so then we had to move the scene physically to another place while trying to keep all the other elements working and we had to make adjustments."

The Marvel Studios film was a significant release for a number of reasons. Not only did it conclude the current trilogy of Spider-Man films and leave Peter Parker in an entirely new place, No Way Home united three different, well-established iterations of the superhero, bringing actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back as Parker after roughly a decade. Their futures in the MCU are uncertain.

It is rumored that Maguire will return as Spider-Man at least one more time in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The rumor stemmed from a social media post from Portuguese dubbing voice actors. It should be noted that these rumors have not been officially confirmed and no announcements have been made concerning Tobey Maguire.
