Throughout Peter Parker’s career as Spider-Man he has also come to have many different types of suits. Though almost all of them serve a different or specific purpose, some have definitely proven to be quite powerful at times.

However, when it comes to actual armor, Peter Parker actually hasn’t worn that many different ones over the years. Generally, the character’s agile and quick nature makes armor a bit more impractical. Despite this, the character has still dabbled with the extra protection, sometimes designing it himself while having it gifted to him on other occasions. Looking at some of the best and the worst from over the years, here is our list of the 5 best Spider-Man armors, and 5 that don’t make any sense.

10 Doesn’t Make Sense: Parker Industries

More recently, Peter Parker actually wore his own advanced suit of armor for an extended period of time. After building up his tech company, Parker Industries, Peter built the suit and equipped it with all sorts of tech and gadgetry to assist him on his ventures as Spider-Man.

However, the suit did little more than other armors have in the past, and strongly resembled Peter’s classic costume. Aside from the glowing eyes and spider, it was actually really hard to tell that he was dressed differently at all. Though the suit still made sense within the context of the story, it did stick around a bit too long and didn’t offer much in terms of being unique.

9 Best: Iron Spider

Iron Spider Infinity War

Making its first cameo appearance at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), the Iron Spider Armor quickly became a fan favorite for many. With a great mix of colors and the addition of extra Stark technology, this suit of armor proved to be perfect for the MCU’s version of Peter Parker, especially by the time Avengers: Infinity War (2018) came around.

Complete with the additional arms from the comic book version as well, the Iron Spider armor was virtually everything fans could have wanted on the big screen. With stylish features and a lot of protection, it was practical, sleek, and everything this version of Spider-Man would need.

8 Doesn’t Make Sense: MK I

Though it is far from the worst design ever, there are a lot of impractical elements to Spider-Man’s original suit of armor. Not only did it significantly slow him down, but its reflective nature made him incredibly easy to spot as well.

Granted, the suit did manage to get the job done in the end, but there’s still a lot more potential for a suit of armor aside from just offering protection from bullets. Though the design of this suit is certainly interesting, it is also easy to see why Spidey hasn’t used this armor very often.

7 Best: Anti-Ock

PS4 Spider-Man Anti-Ock Suit

Towards the end of the massively popular Spider-Man PS4 game, fans got yet another upgrade to their suit through what was deemed the Anti-Ock armor. With the major reveal of Otto Octavius, this suit’s ability really proved to be useful when confronting the final villain.

Though a bit more unconventional for Spider-Man, this mostly black suit was incredibly sleek and also seemed to offer a lot of physical protection from physical damage. Furthermore, with some glowing green eyes and a green symbol to top everything off, this suit proved to be one of the stronger original designs within the game, while also serving a much-needed purpose as well.

6 Doesn’t Make Sense: Velocity

As another original design for the Spider-Man PS4 game, the Velocity suit left for a lot of questions. Recently, a comic series has come out to explain the need for the suit overall, which doesn’t exactly help sell it to fans within the game.

While its power-ups were still useful, players could have used a lot more input concerning the need for the suit, which was also a bit weaker in design in comparison to others. However sleek the overall design may be, the armor also doesn’t make for the most practical element, especially in an effort to boost Spider-Man's speed.

5 Best: SP//dr

Though Peter Parker isn’t the one in this insanely advanced suit, the SP//dr armor is still one of the best armors a spider-themed character has ever worn. As most may already know, Peni Parker is an alternate version of the Wall-crawler whose telepathic bond with a spider connects her to the suit of armor.

Able to do all sorts of things, the SP//dr armor is easily one of the most advanced armors on this list. Furthermore, while Peter himself may not be a part of it, there’s no denying how practical and awesome this armor is in general.

4 Doesn’t Make Sense: MK II

Bearing a striking resemblance to the Anti-Ock armor, the Mk II armor did actually come with a few advantages. After Peter had lost his spider-sense, the armor served as an additional boost in case the hero couldn’t dodge whatever was coming at him in enough time.

Unfortunately, the design of this one is a bit weird, with a popped collar and a spider that runs all across Peter’s body. Likewise, the suit itself almost looks more cloth than like actual armor, making for one of the weirder suits the Wall-Crawler has worn over the years. While the armor has an advantage in its color scheme and through one practical purpose, there’s really not much else to it making it a bit harder to see why Spider-Man would need a suit of this caliber to begin with.

3 Best: MK III

Also known as the “Ends of the Earth” armor, the MK III Spider-Man armor is easily one of the most advanced suits Peter Parker ever created. Designed to go against the entire Sinister Six, it would make sense that this armor packs a pretty powerful punch.

Equipped with technology that gives him all sorts of extra abilities, it is almost surprising that Spider-Man hasn’t worn this suit more often. Likewise, seeing the suit in action was an incredibly welcome experience as well, making it easy to see why it is one of Spider-Man’s best armors yet.

2 Doesn’t Make Sense: Fear Itself

PS4 Spider-Man Fear Itself Suit

Theoretically, Spider-Man’s Fear Itself armor could be one of the coolest and most powerful armors the hero has ever worn. Unfortunately, the suit was destroyed before anyone could really see just how powerful it truly was.

With a rather unique design, the armor isn’t the most appealing costume Spider-Man has ever had. As yet another gift from Tony Stark, one would think that it would definitely have a much better style to it. Aesthetics aside though, the fact that the armor is destroyed before realizing its true potential really helps it land a bit lower than others on this list. While it was a really cool concept at the time, it just doesn’t make sense.

1 Best: Iron Spider

While the cinematic version proved to be very fitting for the MCU, the comic version of the Iron Spider suit is easily one of the best armors the character has yet worn. With a sleek design and color scheme to match that of Tony’s own, the Iron Spider armor is not only powerful but also very practical.

Though Tony’s features were eventually used against Peter, the armor itself still made for a fan-favorite among the comic devotees. Furthermore, the suit is so popular that it has seen several adaptations in other forms of media. While it is easily one of the best Spider armors within the comics, it is also arguably the most popular.
