With the news last week that, rather than Tony Stark, another Marvel superhero will appear in the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, speculation has already begun about who should share the screen with the wall-crawler. Perhaps unsurprisingly, star Tom Holland has an idea of his own: Paul Rudd's Scott Lang.
"Ant-Man would be my favorite," the Spider-Man actor told Screen Rant. "I want to have, like, a bug bros session. I think it’d be really cool.”
The two superheroes didn't exactly meet on the best of terms. In Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man was on team Iron Man, while Ant-Man was solidly behind Cap. While Ant-Man surprised his opponents by growing to giant-size, the web-slinger had a trick of his own with an ode to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back that brought the colossal hero toppling to the tarmac.
The two are also not closely associated in the comics. Spider-Man was a guest teacher at Hank Pym's Avengers Academy, and although he and Scott Lang have teamed up plenty, they've never been best of friends.
Swinging into theaters July 7, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
