1994's Spider-Man: The Animated Series returned to Disney+ after a brief departure from the streaming service.

The series left the House of Mouse's platform in late April, with Disney saying that "Spider-Man (1994) will be returning to the service shortly, but we do not have any specific dates to share at this time. I would suggest checking the Disney+ app at a later date." The reason for it being removed was not disclosed.

Unlike Netflix, Hulu and HBO Max, Disney+ does not announce when a series or movie is leaving the streaming service. Other movies/TV shows that have departed the streamer only to return shortly after include The Sword in the Stone, Avalon High, Never Been Kissed and The Sandlot.

Spider-Man: The Animated series is one of the many Spider-Man cartoons available to stream on Disney+, including Spider-Man (1981), Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (1981), Spider-Man Unlimited (1999), Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man (2017). Missing from the list is The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008), which is not on Disney+ due to Sony Pictures Television's ownership over the distribution rights.

Also not available on Disney+ are all the live-action Spider-Man movies — from Sam Raimi's original trilogy to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) Spider-Man: Far From Home. Those distribution rights are owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment. However, a recent deal between Sony and Disney will allow Disney+ to carry Sony films released between 2022 and 2026 — including Spider-Man, Jumanji and Hotel Transylvania movies — once their first-pay-window expires with Netflix.
