Spider-Punk is set to make his big-screen debut in the animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the upcoming sequel to Sony Pictures Animation's Oscar-winning 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.A couple pieces of Spider-Punk-themed tie-in merchandise for Across the Spider-Verse have surfaced online, thus confirming the character's involvement in the film. The first is a plastic mask depicting Spider-Punk's own mask, complete with the mohawk-esque spikes. The second, meanwhile, is a toy guitar featuring Spider-Punk's logo on the pickguard. With his apparent involvement in Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Punk joins the likes of Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac), Miles Morales/Spider-Man (Shameik Moore), Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man (Jake Johnson), all of whom return from Into the Spider-Verse. Spider-Punk won't be the only newcomer, however, as the film also features Issa Rae as the voice of the original Jessica Drew incarnation of Spider-Woman.

We Are 138

Created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, Hobart "Hobie" Brown/Spider-Man, aka Spider-Punk, first appeared in 2014's Amazing Spider-Man #10. The Spider-Man of the punk rock-themed Earth-138, Hobie gained his powers (and became a Spider-Totem) after being bitten by a spider that had become irradiated due to illegal waste dumping. Spider-Punk also has a number of running buddies, the oldest of which being Karl Morgenthau/Captain Anarchy and Robbie Banner/Hulk (aka Atom Bomb).

After being involved in such comic book tales as Spider-Verse and Web Warriors, Spider-Punk landed his own eponymous series earlier this year. Written by Cody Ziglar and illustrated by Justin Mason, Marvel Comics' Spider-Punk released its third issue earlier this month. Issue #4 is slated for release on Aug. 3, followed by issue #5 on Sept. 14. That being said, Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have expressed interest in including Spider-Punk in a sequel as far back as 2018.

Spider-Punk is, of course, a multiversal variant of the Marvel Universe's main version of Hobie Brown, who resides on Earth-616. Created by Stan Lee, John Buscema and John Romita Jr., this version of Hobie was the original Prowler, first appearing in 1969's Amazing Spider-Man #78. More recently, Earth-616's Hobie Brown became a new version of the Hornet in 2021's King in Black: Planet of the Symbiotes #2.
