The Plot of Across the Spider-Verse Part 1, and the Story So Far

Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

The 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was set in a world where teenager Miles Morales looked up to the heroic Spider-Man. Soon gaining powers similar to his, Miles comes to replace his world's Spider-Man after the latter is brutally killed by the Kingpin. He's soon joined by other Spider-people from other dimensions, who came to his via the Kingpin's machinations. Coming into his own under the tutelage of older Spider-Man Peter B. Parker, all while catching the eye of Gwen Stacy, an alternate universe Spider-Woman, Miles defeats the Kingpin and becomes his Earth's new hero.

So far, only the bare basics of the plot for Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 are known. The synopsis involves Miles Morales once again teaming up with old ally and love interest Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman to traverse the multiverse, meeting other versions of Spider-Man and Spider-Woman along the way. Their relationship will be a central part of the movie's plot. The other characters are so far confirmed to include Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099, who was shown in the ending of the first movie. Other confirmed Spiders include the returning Peter B. Parker, as well as the Japanese Spider-Man from the 1978 live-action series and the Jessica Drew version of Spider-Woman.

Does Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 Have a Trailer Yet?

The film's first teaser was released in December 2021, though it feels much less like a trailer and more like a full scene cut from the movie. The "trailer" has Miles reuniting with Gwen Stacy, who invites him to journey throughout the Spider-Verse with her.

Jumping into a portal, he's sent tumbling through different worlds, namely the cyberpunk future of 2099, where he's attacked by that world's Spider-Man. Another world that can be seen is that of Spider-Man: India, an alternate universe from the Marvel comic books where Spider-Man is the teenager Pavitr Prabhakar. These worlds already look incredibly distinct from each other, ensuring that each Spider's web is uniquely different. There's also been discussions concerning other live-action incarnations of Spider-Man being in the movie, namely the version seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
